Our region Midi-Pyrenees is deeply involved in the interregional cooperation at the European level. Today, we want to implement a new cooperation tool based on the implementation of the European Directive INSPIRE and the new applications expected from the GALILEO program in our regions.

Since 2005 we, together with our partner CCI GERS, led the Regional Framework Operation INTERREG IIIC GRISI (Geomatic Regional Information Society Initiative), the first concrete example of interoperable spatial data infrastructures gathering our Region with the Abruzzo, Navarra and Latvia.

We, with Alain BENETEAU our Vice-President in Research, have also initiated the NEREUS network of European regions concerned by the development and the use of spatial technologies in Europe. Finally, all the largest companies of our Region are deeply involved in the development of coming applications of the GALILEO program.

We are eager to share with your region all these opportunities and, for this purpose, we are hosting at our Hôtel de Région on 24 and 25 June 2008 the 3rd Interregional Conference GRISICapitalisation where we can define the new cooperation priorities by using the concrete examples and analysing the applications valorising our respective heritage.

Thus, it is my pleasure to invite you personally to this conference.

I look forward to your participation in the event in our Hôtel de Région.

Yours sincerly,
